View Full Document Introduction:With the technology today, being able to solve crimes have become much easier, more streamlined and efficient. This even applies to the ability to identify individu-als from recent deaths from the use of coroners and forensic entomologists, How-ever, what about unsolved cases from the past where instead of having a fresh dead body, the only thing that remains are bones. The forensic anthropologist is the expert when identifying individuals from bones by looking at key characteristics that each bone may have to clue into someones race, sex, age and height. Forensic anthropologist although may not be able to de-termine the exact individual, could also point to an idea of who the individual may be and possibly what could of happened during the time of death of the individual. Forensic Anthropologists were able to solve an old 17th century crime by looking at key characteristics from remains found that may clue into how the victim could havedied 1 . Douglas Owsley, a forensic anthropologist determined that the old 17th century remains belonged to a caucasian boy of european decent between the ages of 15-16. Based on the time line of the death as well as a fracture found on the wrists of the remains, Owsley determined that the boy was killed violently during a time when a law was passed to prevent owners from covering up instances of abuse 1 . If forensic anthropologist can’t determine who exactly died or who may have killed avictim, then they at least find clues to a probably cause to why someone was killed or how someone may have died which can help forensics investigators understand why certain events may have happened.
